Sunrise is my favorite part of the day. In the dark I paw at my nightstand.  For some reason I can never seem to find my phone which serves as my alarm clock, and this morning is no different.  After silencing the alarm, I reach for a pulse oximeter that I slip on my finger, and then I  allow my self to doze.  Moments later the phone goes off again.  Before silencing it I glance at the device on my finger and note my resting pulse and O2 saturation.  Then it's off to the bathroom to take care of business and get a morning weight.Today, like most days, I am up much earlier than I have to be.  I don't need to be to work for at least two-and-a-half hours, and it is only a few minutes drive to get there.  I am up because I need and depend on a little adventure before I get to the office.  My most common form of adventure is running, and I run just about everyday. Most days, I run twice.  Several times a week, on top of all the running, I do some strength training.  The hours of training add up.  I am often told I am crazy, too driven, even obsessed.  To that I smile and nod, maybe I am all of those things, but it is how I maintain balance, sanity. The demands I place on my body are high.  I ask; no, I require, that it gets up early, runs, works all day, runs again, lifts, and plays with my girls before I allow it to sleep prior to starting again the next day. My body is required to run far, fast, and on difficult terrain.  Every once in a while I toe the line of an ultra, or a tough mountain race, or some other super challenging adventure that requires an even higher demand of my body.  Because of the workload, I have to make sure that I take care of my body.  Food is though of as fuel, and I strive for only the best fuels.  I am very fortunate to work with First Endurance.  They produce some of the very finest sources of fuel, electrolyte mixes, and recover drinks available to athletes today.  I have written in the past about how I use many of their products, including the infamous slurry that fueled my entire Wasatch 100 a few years ago.  Daily, I take MultiV, a multivitamin that was developed to meet the needs of athletes that push themselves on a daily basis.  Almost all my workouts involve EFS or EFS LS, and regularly I use Ultragen to recover after the hard workouts.

Daily adventure, whether big or small, is critical to my existence.  Without the products from First Endurance what I do would probably still be possible, but it would be much more difficult. With regular use of their products I can fuel well during workouts, which allows for less "going to the well" and tapping into deep reserves.  I recover quicker by replenishing what is used during hard workouts with Ultragen.  Optygen and MultiV give my body the building blocks for continuous improvement.  I am very grateful to be able to work with a company that, in my mind, leads all other sports nutrition companies and allows me to punish my body on a daily basis for the sake of my need for adventure.
